Where the Griddy Dance came from
The Griddy is named after Allen “Griddy” Davis, a Louisiana high school football player. NFL receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson turned it into a touchdown celebration, it became a Fortnite emote in 2021, and TikTok did the rest in 2022.
It is a classic now, and US search interest has cooled since a September 20, 2026 high. A good one to have on the shelf: easy to swap, easy to recognise.
Tips for a better Griddy Dance video
- A confident, front-facing photo.
- Use a clear, front-facing photo. Full-length photos work best because the whole outfit changes, not just the face.
Griddy Dance AI: questions
How do I make a Griddy Dance video with my face?
Pick the Griddy Dance video, upload a clear photo of yourself, and tap “Get free 4s preview”. If you like it, unlock the full-length clip without the watermark.
Is the preview really free?
Yes. Your first preview is 4 seconds long, 480p and watermarked, and it costs nothing. You only pay for the full-length clip.
How long does it take?
The free 4-second preview takes about 5–10 minutes and the full video about 10–20 minutes. Keep the tab open for a browser alert, or close it and we email you a link.
What photos work best?
Bright, sharp photos of one person each, facing the camera, ideally showing the whole body. Avoid sunglasses, heavy filters and group photos in a single spot.
What resolution is the final video?
The full video comes in 480p ($4.99), 720p ($9.90) or 1080p ($14.90), vertical 9:16, sized for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. You pick the resolution when you pay.
